This survey is being posted at the request of Lili, for her student project.
The details are below. If you have any questions please contact Lili for further information.
Hi, my name is Lili and I am a 17 year old student in the UK. In May 2021, my younger sibling was diagnosed with Anorexia, and the last two years have been an incredibly difficult time for our family. In this time, I found it hard to get support specifically for siblings, so I’ve decided to make some myself!
What I am doing is creating a guide for siblings of people with eating disorders. It will have information, guidance, activities, and most importantly – experiences and quotes from other siblings. I have created a survey for siblings to complete, because I want to learn about the experiences of other siblings so that my guide can be as useful for as many people as possible.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete, and none of the questions are compulsory, so only fill out what you are comfortable with. There is also an opportunity to do a short interview so that I can get more detailed information as well as quotes to use in my guide. I offer £5 to anyone who does an interview, and I will try convert this to the currency you have if you live outside of the UK.
Anyone who has a sibling with an eating disorder or whose sibling has previously had an eating disorder is encouraged to fill in the survey. Whether your sibling has been diagnosed or not, at any age or stage of illness, I am grateful for all responses and they are all incredibly important.
In the ‘information about the survey’ at the top of the form, it says that my guide will focus on Anorexia, although this is no longer true and I am trying to include information about all types of eating disorders. Secondly, it says that an interview would last maximum 30 minutes – in the past they have been around an hour long, but I can do a shorter one if that works best for you.
Finally, if you live outside the UK, at the end of section 2 could you please indicate this in that question, whether that is saying the country you live in (e.g. The US or France) or just not the UK, because it will help me look at how experiences of siblings change across country as well.
